When does morning sickness start?

When does morning sickness start? This is an early sign of pregnancy in the first trimester for many women, but when does it begin? How soon after conception does nausea occur?

Morning sickness can start very shortly after implantation has occurred. But for most women it begins during their fifth or sixth week of pregnancy. By this time you have probably noticed that your period is late, or the nauseousness prompts you to think about when you had a period last. Even though the name refers to the am hours, this sick feeling and discomfort can happen any time of the day, and can last for long periods of time.

When will it end? The symptoms of morning sickness usually become less severe or end by the start of the second trimester. So you should get some relief around pregnancy weeks 12 or 13, which may not be a comfort to you at this point.
