When can you hear your baby's hear rate in pregnancy?

When can you hear your baby's heart beat in pregnancy? What week will me or my doctor be able to hear the heart beating on one of their doppler machines. I just found out that I was pregnant and I want to know when I could expect to hear my baby.

You should hear it by 12 weeks pregnant NEW

You should be able to hear your baby's heart beating with a doppler by 12 weeks. Sometimes you can hear it as early as 9 or 10 weeks depending on the fetus position and the strength of the equipment being used. With the cheap store model dopplers it may never happen. I purchased one for 40 dollars or so with my last pregnancy and I only heard my own heart and breathing, and this was at 8 months!
