What medicine can you take for cramps during pregnancy? I also have a lot of gas in my stomach. Is it safe to take antacids right now? What are some other home remedies that might give me some relief?

Cramps are going to happen

Cramps are a part of most pregnancies. It could be braxton hicks contractions or maybe your uterus and ligaments stretching as your baby grows. You really just have to deal with it. If the cramps are very painful, if they are accompanied by bleeding or spotting, or if they consistently get worst then you should seek medical attention. That means your regular ob/gyn or the emergency room of a hospital if it is after hours or on the weekend. The medical staff will be able to check you and the fetus to make sure everything is okay.

Spicy foods gave me indigestion
by: Anonymous

I found that spicy foods gave me indigestion when I was pregnant. Also eating too much food or late at night would give the same results. If you really pay attention to how your body reacts to certain foods then you could try to alter your diet to remove or replace the choices that give you gas.

Don't take any painkillers

I would not take any painkillers without consulting with my doctor first if I were you. There are so many different adverse reactions your body could have to something as simple as an adult aspirin. Every pregnancy and body is different, and your medical condition has to be evaluated by your personal ob/gyn before introducing a synthetic substance into your body. You want to do what is safest for you and your baby.

To help relieve some of the gas you could try drinking some ginger ale or another type of carbonated beverage. Antacids like Tums are good too, and they are rich in calcium. Some people drink a mixture of water and a little bit of baking soda, which usually produces a big burp. But you have to drink the whole glass at once, like a shot. But don't try that last remedy more than once a week because it has been known to lower your potassium levels, which is not good.

Again, every thing you read or hear about you should get the okay from your doc first. Hope this helps.
