Weight Gain in First Trimester

When it comes to weight gain in first trimester, what is normal? I am only 8 weeks pregnant but I have already gained 10 pounds! I know weight gain is one of the early pregnancy symptom but if I keep putting on weight like this throughout the pregnancy I'm going to be big as a house by the time I deliver.

I haven't had an ultrasound yet, but could this it because I am carrying twins? I would want to know that as soon as possible. Could it be gestational diabetes? When exactly is something like that confirmed by the doctor? Does that run in families or is it random? Will I have to get a c-section because my baby is too big too push out?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but this is my first baby and my first pregnancy, and this is all so new to me. To help calm my fears, what is normal weight gain in the first trimester of pregnancy? I look forward to reading any and all comments.

Weight Loss in my Forst Trimester NEW
by: Jill

I hear your concerns. Everyone responds different to pregnancy, whether it's twins or not. I had twins and actually lost weight in my first trimester due to morning sickness. I couldn't even stand to drink water. In total I lost about ten pounds in my first 3 months, and then started gaining in the second trimester.

The only way to know for sure if you are carrying one or two babies is to see your doctor and have him due the necessary tests to confirm it for you.
