The doctor moved my due date up when I was pregnant. I was pregnant with twins by in vitro fertilization. My fertility doctor had my due date for the 13th of the month. Once I was released into the hands of my regular obstetrician/gynecologist and she gave me my first ultrasound she also moved my due date up to the 8th of the month.
That seemed out of whack to me because if you are doing in vitro shouldn't they know for sure when you are expected to deliver. She told me that it could be off a few days because of the time it took for the implantation to take place or it might have been because the fetus was measuring at a growth rate for a baby 5 days older, if that makes any sense.
I have been told by a few members of the medical community that twins often develop faster than a singleton pregnancy. Somehow the body speeds things up a little because it knows that most twin pregnancies don't go to the full 40 weeks gestation. And that was true. I went in to labor at 34 weeks.
So to all expectant mothers just know that you cannot predict the exact day your little one will arrive. All you can do is be prepared for it whenever it is.
