My Miracle Blob

I knew it was normal to have some leakage downstairs in the layaway department, but I couldn’t help thinking it was because my water broke. I called my doctor (duh!) the night of the tenth to let her know that I thought I had sprung a leak and the ship was going down, but she assured me that it was probably just another one of those annoying results of pregnancy and not to worry about it.

The next day I decided that among everything else I had to do, it was time to deep clean my oven and stove because that clearly needed to be done before the baby came home. It was after this endeavor, and exchanging the clothes from the washer to the dryer in our laundry room, that a loud pop and gush of water occurred from my good china.

I called the doctor to let her know what had happened, but surprise, she wasn’t available that day for some reason. I decided to shower, get dolled up, and let my clothes finish drying as my boyfriend ran around the house like a chicken with its head cut off because we were stuck waiting for a different doctor to call us back and give us the okay to head over to the hospital.

The whole birthing experience was very “chill” until my in-laws arrived, which is when I decided it was time to go walking through the halls to help get the kid out while hubby played entertainer to his family. I suggest not telling anyone you find the slightest bit annoying that you’re in labor, especially if you don’t want them at the hospital.

After I demanded the room cleared, 8 hours of labor, and being stuck at 6cm, my stand-in doc decided it was time for pitocin, but not before I received the miracle epidural. I was finally able to get some sleep, and my little blobby was born 6 hours later after 10 minutes of pushing on the 12th. Life couldn’t be better.
