Late or Irregular Period After Gall Bladder Surgery

Has anyone had a late or irregular period after gall bladder removal surgery? I had my gallbladder removed on September 23rd 2009 and my menstrual period still hasn't come. Today is October 21, 2009. My period has been every 28 to 32 days for the last two years.

I have PCOS but my period became sort of normal after my first pregnancy. So today makes day 41 and no signs of aunt Flo. My last period was Sep. 10th and I had my gallbladder removed Sep. 23. After surgery I was unable to have sex for like two and a half weeks, so I would be really shocked if I was pregnant. It is really driving me crazy because I have been nauseous for the last few days and my breasts have been sore off and on.

I did take a HPT (home pregnancy test) about three days ago but it was negative. So I'm wondering what is going on? The longest time that I've ever gone between periods in my life was 49 days, but I can't wait another week before knowing for sure whether or not I am pregnant.

That's why I want to know if any other women have experience menstrual issues after having their gallbladder removed? Or does one thing have nothing to do with the other? It would be great if I were expecting, I just want to know. Somebody help me calm the little voice in my head that won't let give me any peace!

I had my gallbladder removed Fri., April 30, 2010. I got my period Mon., April 26, 2010 (four days previous). I usually have a very regular cycle but I am now a week late. I took a Home Pregnancy Test but it confirmed I'm not pregnant. I really wish I knew what was going on. My husband and I would really like to start trying to have another baby and not knowing when I am due for my period, etc. is making it extremely difficult.

Yes, I'm a week late now.

I had my gall bladder our 3/4/2010 and I got my period the Friday before my surgery. I have ALWAYS been able to set a clock by my periods, even after having my children. But now I'm a week late and not pregnant. So this has helped me. Thank you. I will mention it to my surgeon to make sure he informs future patients that this is possible.

Still not here

Yes,my period is still missing in action and it's been over a month since my surgery. I hope everything gets back on track soon. I hate not knowing what's going on like this.

My period was always irregular

My period was always irregular, even before I had my gall bladder removed. But what I do find annoying now is the altered digestion of my food. Since I had surgery my stomach sometimes makes these thumping feelings after certain meals, hours after I've eaten. I've been pregnant before, so I know what the first quickenings or baby kicks feel like. So on one of my super long delayed periods I start associating this with a possible pregnancy. My period sometimes doesn't come for 3 months. So i reluctantly go out to buy a pregnancy test, only for it to show a negative. This has happened to me at least 3 times since I had my procedure done a year ago. I hate it.

Yes my period was late too

Yes my period was late too. But it did not go back to normal right after that either. It's been six months since I had my gallbladder removed and I still don't know when my period is due for that month. That is not something they tell you could be a side effect of surgery. I guess it's because it doesn't happen to enough women or we just don't tell our surgeons about it. I know I didn't, but now that I'm writing this I should call and tell her.
