My mother had HPV when I was growing up. She eventually died after having cervical cancer 3 times from the HPV.
I had a pap smear done when I found out I was pregnant. It came back abnormal. I went into the doctors office, and they looked in my cervix and found dyspepsia. I had to get a biopsy done. I got the results of it back at my next appointment, and I found out It was severe.
Fortunately though, it wasn't cancer.
After I heal from labor they will operate to scrape the cells out of my cervix.
Fortunately, HPV doesn't harm the fetus so my baby girl will remain unaffected. Now I have to get a pap smear every three months to make sure it doesn't come back, but I'm thankful to not be in the same position as my mother, and I hope my daughter never will be either. HPV can be scary, but its worth keeping up with, and I hope to be around to raise my little girl, and a long time after.
