Chances of getting pregnant while on your period

What are my chances of getting pregnant while on my period? I don't make a habit of having sex during that time of the month, but if and when I do, can I become pregnant? I am just a teenage right now and I don't to have a baby until I graduate high school, college, and establish my career.

It is good that you are thinking about your future and your ability to care for a child right now. Babies are a big responsibility and come with a lot of expenses.

Although it is very unlikely that you will conceive on your menstrual cycle there is always a very slim chance. Your ovaries take turns alternating between each other when releasing an egg each month. So even though you are shedding your lining there is an off chance that the other ovary has already released your egg for the next month. It is not impossible. Think about it. Naturally occurring fraternal twins happen because two eggs were fertilized that month instead of one. How doe that happen if only one "gets loose" every 28 to 35 days. So you should still use protection all of the time if you do not want a pregnancy.
