Can you get pregnant before you have your first period?

Can you get pregnant before you have your first period? I just turned 13 and I have not gotten my period yet. Me and my boyfriend have not had sex yet because I'm not ready but he keeps pressuring me. He said that I don't have anything to worry about because he can't get me pregnant since I never had a menstrual cycle. Is this true?

Don't risk having unprotected sex at any time if you are not ready to become a mother. While it is true that you cannot be impregnated until your body start releasing eggs for fertilization you have no way of knowing exactly when that would be. So you run the chance of never actually seeing blood, but still have a cycle and possibly a baby.

Do not forget the fact that you are still leaving yourself open to all types of sexually transmitted diseases and infections by not using contraceptives. Do not allow your boyfriend to force you to do something that you are not ready for fully. There are a lot of emotions that come in to play after losing your virginity too, and most girls your age are not ready to deal with that.

Once you get older and have had a few years to get to know your newly developed body then you have a better chance at knowing when your fertile days are, how many days your cycles last, when you may be ovulating, and a lot more. If you do read all of this and still want to become sexually active now please let your mother, guardian, or responsible adult in your life know what is going on so they can help you protect yourself in every way.
