Can implantation bleeding occur after a missed period

Can implantation bleeding occur after a missed period? I have been trying to get pregnant for months now unsuccessfully. My period is about 7 days late. That doesn't mean as much as it would for someone with a regular cycle, but my menstrual cycle has never been the normal 28 days. It can be anywhere from 30 to 42 days and still be in the average range for me.

So today is January 6th and I am 7 days late compared to my last period which was 35 days in length. And today I had a slight showing of blood when I wiped myself after using the bathroom. The flow it isn't getting heavier yet, and I hope that it doesn't. I know that some women experience implantation bleeding when they become pregnant. So can implantation bleeding happen after you have missed your scheduled period?

If could happen NEW

It could happen if you have a very irregular period because you never really know when your next cycle is going to start. If you were trying to get pregnant and you were monitoring you basal body temperature (BBT) then implantation bleeding might line up with the 10 to 14 day period that pregnancy happens after you ovulate. You really can't be sure. If this is your only symptom the you may want to wait a few more days and see if the flow changes, stops, or you start having additional pregnancy signs.

I thought my late period was implantion NEW

I thought my late period was implantation last month but it wasn't. My flow got a little heavier on the second full day and it was completely gone by the start of day 4, but I was not pregnant. My body is playing a cruel joke on me because it knows how badly I want a baby. :-(
