Baby Head down at 29 weeks

by Carrie

The doctor told me my baby's head was down at 29 weeks pregnant? Does this mean that I will have to have a c-section or try to deliver the baby breech?

This is my first child and I really want to have a natural delivery. I wasn't too sure whether I was going to ask for an epidural or not, but I definitely know that I didn't want to deal with recovering from major surgery while trying to look after a newborn too. Will he/she turn around before I go into labor? We wanted the sex to be a surprise too. There are so few good ones left in life anymore.

You can't be sure until you actually go in labour

You can't be sure what position the baby will be or stay in until you actually go into labour. My daughter was in the proper position at my last OB appointment before I had her and when I arrived at the hospital 3 days later she was breech! I did go ahead and have a c-section.

Just make sure you have someone to help you at home for the first couple of weeks. You will still be able to enjoy your baby. Oh yeah, and plenty of pain pills.

You have time before going in to labor

You have quite a few weeks before you are scheduled to go into labor. The baby is going to do a lot more growing and may very well turn around to the head first position. I even seen this video on Youtube where the doctor manually turned this ladies baby around in the womb! I wouldn't advise that though. She looked like she was in a LOT of pain while this was happening. But so is childbirth I guess.
