So what are the symptoms of pregnancy at 5 weeks pregnant? The number one clue for most women that something is cooking in the oven is a missed or late period. Though there are other reasons for a late period, impregnation is a major one. The second biggest indicator would be a positive pregnancy test. The at home pregnancy tests are very accurate on picking up the pregnancy hormone HCG, especially if you wait until you have missed the scheduled date of your menstrual cycle.

There are other ways that you could tell if you are pregnant. Take a look at these early symptoms of pregnancy at 5 weeks.

  • Nausea and/or Vomiting - This is probably the most common early symptom of pregnancy. Nausea and/or vomiting is commonly referred to as morning sickness during pregnancy. This symptom effects between between fifty and eighty percent of all pregnant women. It usually starts around the 5th or 6th week of pregnancy.
  • Tender or Sore Breasts - Many women have reported a higher sensitivity, soreness, and tenderness in the breasts during early pregnancy. This is because your body is increasing production of the hormone that you will need to produce milk for breastfeeding. This tenderness and soreness is generally stronger and more intense than what you may or may not experience right before your period.
  • Increased Urination - If you are going to the bathroom more frequently than normal this Can be a pregnancy sign. Your growing embryo/fetus puts pressure on your bladder which causes you to urinate more often.
  • Spotting or Implantation Bleeding - When the fertilized egg, or embryo, implants itself in to the lining of the uterus. Implantation begins about six days or so after fertilization and is usually completed within a few days.
  • Irritability and Mood Swings - These changes in your mood could happen due to the added hormones being produced by your body if you are pregnant. This symptom may be a little misleading because it also accompanies many womens' menstrual cycles as well.
  • Food Cravings or Aversions - Craving a particular food that you normally don't eat, or suddenly being turned off to a food that you have always liked could be a possible sign of pregnancy. Some women start having these cravings at 5 weeks pregnant or sooner!
  • High Basal Body Temperature - This sign is more apparent to women who have been trying to conceive and actually take their temperature daily. If you notice your temperature rise by at least .4 and stay there for at least eighteen days then you may be pregnant
  • Extremely tired - If you find yourself exhausted or extremely tired even though you haven't increased your activities then you may be pregnant. Though you are not showing yet, your body is going through major hormonal and physical changes constantly at this point. Having a baby is hard work!
